Privacy Policy & POPIA

This notice explains how Tindlovu Group collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you visit our website, contact us, make a booking or subscribe to our communications.

Last updated: 27 August 2026

1. Our commitment

Tindlovu Group respects your privacy and processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”) and other applicable South African law. For the processing described in this notice, Tindlovu Group is the responsible party.

2. Information we collect

We may collect your name, email address, telephone number, booking date and time, number of guests, event or wedding details, dietary or special requests, newsletter preferences, correspondence, and any information you choose to provide through our forms, email or WhatsApp. We may also receive technical information such as your IP address, browser, device, referring page and website usage data through essential hosting, security and analytics technologies.

3. How we collect information

We collect information directly from you when you submit a restaurant booking, wedding or contact enquiry, subscribe to our newsletter, communicate with us, visit one of our venues or otherwise interact with Tindlovu. Some technical data is collected automatically when you use the website.

4. Why we use it

We process personal information to respond to enquiries; manage and confirm restaurant, wedding, bush dining and event bookings; deliver requested services; communicate operational information; maintain customer records; improve our website and guest experience; prevent fraud and protect our systems; comply with legal duties; and, where permitted or consented to, send relevant news and offers.

Providing booking and contact details is voluntary, but without the required information we may be unable to respond, reserve a table or provide the requested service.

5. Lawful processing

Depending on the circumstances, we process information with your consent, to take steps at your request or perform an agreement, to meet legal obligations, or where our legitimate interests or those of a third party justify the processing without unfairly affecting your rights.

6. Sharing information

We may share relevant information with the Tindlovu venue or team responsible for your request and with trusted service providers that support our website, hosting, email, booking administration, security, analytics or professional services. They may use the information only for the agreed service and must protect it appropriately. We may also disclose information when required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal rights. We do not sell personal information.

7. Cross-border processing

Some technology providers may process or store information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to use providers and safeguards that offer an appropriate level of protection as required by POPIA.

8. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to meet contractual and legal obligations, resolve disputes and maintain appropriate business records. When information is no longer required, it is securely deleted, destroyed or de-identified.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, interference, alteration or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, but we review our safeguards and service providers in proportion to the risks involved.

10. Cookies and website services

Our website may use necessary cookies or similar technologies for functionality, security and performance, and may use limited analytics to understand website use. You can control cookies through your browser, although blocking essential cookies may affect how the site works. Links to third-party services, including WhatsApp, are governed by those providers’ own privacy terms.

11. Direct marketing

We will send electronic marketing only where permitted by law or where you have consented. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in a message or by contacting us. Service messages relating to an active enquiry or booking are not marketing communications.

12. Your POPIA rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask whether we hold personal information about you; request access to it; ask us to correct, update or delete inaccurate or unlawfully held information; object to certain processing; withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; and request that direct marketing stops.

To exercise a right, email info@tindlovu.co.za. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Some information may need to be retained where the law allows or requires it.

13. Complaints

Please contact us first so that we can try to resolve your concern. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) through its official website at inforegulator.org.za.

14. Children’s information

Our website and general services are not intended to collect personal information directly from children without appropriate consent. If information about a child is required for an event or service, it must be supplied by a parent, guardian or other authorised person and will be processed only for the relevant purpose.

15. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when our practices, services or legal obligations change. The current version and its effective date will always appear on this page.
